Free incident timeline calculator and report checker
Paste your incident timeline to get the time to detect, time to fix and total duration, then paste your draft customer report to see what it is missing. It all runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
1. Timeline calculator
2. Report checker
What the calculator does
It reads a time at the start of each line: 09:12, 9:12am, 2026-10-03 09:12 or 2026-10-03T09:12:00Z, with an optional Z, UTC or +02:00 zone. With times only, a time earlier than the one before it is read as the next day. It then works out the gap between events and the span from the first line to the last. It also looks for words such as alert, reported, noticed, acknowledged, fixed and restored to suggest a detection time and a resolution time. That guess can be wrong, so it shows which lines it picked. If the lines mix zones, it tells you; lines with no zone are treated as UTC. Lines that start with [, - or * (chat and list formats) are read too, and a time-only line after a dated line reuses that date.
What the report checker looks for
A customer incident report usually needs a summary, the impact, a timeline, the cause, what fixed it and what happens next. The checker looks for each of these by keyword, for a time zone, for promises that are risky to make in writing (refunds, credits, "will never happen again", "100%"), for blame words, and for guesses that are not marked as unconfirmed. It cannot judge whether your facts are right. It only checks the shape and the wording.
How to fix what it flags
Put the summary first, in two or three sentences, because many readers stop there. State the time zone once. Say "we think" or "not yet confirmed" for anything you have not proven. Describe what happened to the system rather than who did it. Offer credits only if your contract or your own decision says so. For an outline and a before-and-after example, read how to write a customer incident report.
