Here is a real 6 by 6 board from the practice set. The numbers say how many ship cells each row and column holds. The fleet is one ship of three cells, two of two and three of one. Ships are straight, never touch (not even at the corners), and a filled square or a dot is a cell you are given for free. It has exactly one answer.

Is the daily puzzle really free?
Yes. Today's puzzle is never locked. The pass adds the archive, practice boards, full stats and themes.
Does the pass renew?
No. It is a single $4 payment with no subscription. Your key is checked against our key service and remembered in your browser.
Where is my progress saved?
In your browser only (local storage). We keep no accounts and see no personal data. Clearing site data clears streaks.
When does a new puzzle appear?
At midnight on your own device clock, the same puzzle for everyone on that calendar date.
Is it based on another game?
Battleship solitaire (also called Bimaru) is an old puzzle family. Shoal's boards, daily schedule, scoring and interface are our own, and it has nothing to do with the two-player board game.
What if I get stuck?
Use Undo, a hint (marked on your result), the solving guide, or the free solver that solves, counts and explains any board you type in.
What if it doesn't work for me?
