Free HTML CV print checker
Paste the source of your HTML CV and see, in your browser, whether it is set up to print to a clean PDF: paper size, margins, colours, page breaks and the layout habits that scramble text order. Nothing is uploaded.
What it looks for
- An
@pagerule with a size (A4 or Letter) and a margin, so the browser does not pick its own. print-color-adjust: exact, needed only if you use coloured bands or backgrounds.- Page-break rules such as
break-inside: avoidon jobs, so an entry is not split across pages. - Screen-only decoration that leaks into print: a box-shadow or large padding on the page wrapper with no
@media printreset. - Layout that hides reading order:
<table>used for layout, CSS columns, floats, and wideletter-spacingon headings (some PDF text extractors turn "SUMMARY" into "S U M M A R Y"). - Content that does not belong in a CV file: images, scripts and remote resources, which add risk and can break offline printing.
- Basics: a
langattribute, one<h1>, and headings in order.
What it cannot tell you
This is a static read of your source. It does not render the page, count pages or run an applicant tracking system. After fixing what it flags, print to PDF, check the page count, then select all in the PDF and paste into a plain text editor: your name should come first and your jobs should follow newest to oldest. The print guide explains the dialog settings step by step.
If you would rather start from designs that already pass every check above, CV Sheets is a $9 kit of six single-file templates in A4 and Letter, and the live demo lets you print two of them first.
