Printable nonograms: free picture-logic puzzles to print

Three nonogram (picross) sheets you can print and solve with a pencil, from 5 by 5 to 8 by 8. Every one has exactly one answer and can be solved by logic alone, so you never have to guess. The picture's name stays hidden until you open the answer.

How to solve a nonogram

The numbers beside each row and above each column tell you the lengths of the runs of filled squares in that line, in order, with at least one empty square between runs. A 0 means the line is empty. Start with the biggest numbers: in a 5-square row with a clue of 4, the middle three squares must be filled whichever way the run sits. Shade those, cross out squares that cannot be filled, and move to the columns, which now have new information. Repeat until the picture appears. Each of these puzzles was checked by two separate programs: one confirms there is only one solution, the other solves it using only this kind of line-by-line reasoning.

Print tips

Print at 100% scale on A4 or Letter. Each square is about 7 mm, which is comfortable for a pencil. The thicker lines every five squares help you keep your place on larger grids. The answers sit under a closed "Show the answer" heading and are not printed.
