Plainwork / Store Text Draft / App Store keyword field packer, 100 bytes

Free App Store keyword field packer (100 bytes)

Paste your app name, subtitle and a list of candidate keywords. The packer builds the comma-separated keyword field for App Store Connect, drops words Apple already indexes from your name and subtitle, and shows exactly what it dropped and why. It runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Commas, semicolons or new lines. Phrases are split into single words, because Apple combines words from all fields itself. Earlier words win when space runs out.

What it does, exactly

Apple's App Store Connect reference says the keywords field takes "up to 100 bytes of content" and that your app "is searchable by app name and company name, so you shouldn't duplicate these values in the keyword list". The packer follows those two sentences literally:

  • It counts UTF-8 bytes, not characters. Plain letters and commas are one byte each; accented and non-Latin letters take two or more.
  • It puts a comma between words and no space, because a space is a byte you cannot spare.
  • It drops any word that appears in your name, subtitle or category, and also its plural or singular form (a plain trailing s, es or ies).
  • It drops words shorter than three letters, repeated words, a short list of filler words (app, free, best, pro, ios and similar) and anything that no longer fits.
  • It keeps your order, so put the words you most want to rank for first.

What it cannot do

It does not know which keywords are popular or whether you can rank for them. It does not know the names of other apps or companies, which Apple does not allow as keywords, so check your list yourself. Its plural handling is deliberately simple: it treats tracker and trackers as one word but will not guess irregular forms. Apple can change its rules, so paste the result into App Store Connect and trust its counter over this page. Name and subtitle limits (30 characters each) come from Apple's review guidelines and App Store Connect reference; keyword and subtitle changes only go live with a new app version.
