Bluesky engagement rate calculator
Type any public Bluesky handle to get its engagement rate: the average likes, reposts, replies and quotes per post, divided by followers. It reads the account's most recent original posts straight from Bluesky's public API, so you can check your own account or compare it with one you admire.

How the number is worked out
For each of the latest original posts (up to 100, replies and reposts of other people's posts left out) we add up likes, reposts, replies and quotes. The engagement rate is the average of that total per post, divided by the account's follower count, shown as a percentage. We also show the median post, because one viral post can drag an average far above what a typical post earns. If the average is much higher than the median, trust the median.
What counts as a good rate
There is no official Bluesky benchmark, and published social-media benchmarks are mostly about other networks, so treat any threshold as a rough guide. What is reliable is comparison: your rate this month against last month, or against accounts of a similar size. Small accounts usually show a higher rate than large ones, because a few close followers engage with nearly everything. Do not compare a 300-follower account with a 50,000-follower one.
Ways to read the result
- Average well above median: one or two posts did the work. Look at what they had in common, then repeat it.
- Replies high, likes low: your posts start conversations. That usually suits questions and opinions.
- Reposts high: people find the post worth sharing, which is how new people find you.
- Near zero: check when you post. Different hours reach different audiences, and the free best-time-to-post checker shows which hours worked for your own past posts.
Limits of this calculator
It only sees public data, and only recent posts, so it describes the recent past rather than predicting the future. It cannot see impressions, which Bluesky does not publish, so this is engagement per follower, not per view. Followers who are inactive or bots lower the rate without telling you anything about your writing.
