A free, blank HTML CV template you can copy and print
This is a complete one-page CV in about 60 lines: no framework, no JavaScript, no fonts to download. Copy it into a file called cv.html, replace the placeholder text, open it in Chrome or Edge and print to PDF. It is a plain starting point; use it as it is, or keep it as a reference for what a print-ready CV needs.
The template
Paper size is A4. For US Letter, change size: A4 to size: Letter in the first rule. Everything in it is placeholder text.

How to use it
- Save the code as
cv.html(UTF-8) and open it in your browser. - Replace the placeholder text in any text editor. To add a job, copy a whole
<article class="job">block and paste it under the last one. - Press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on a Mac), choose Save as PDF, keep margins on Default and untick Headers and footers.
- Check the page count, then select all in the PDF and paste into a plain text editor: your name should come first, then your jobs in order.
Why it is built this way
- One column, no tables. The text reads top to bottom, so copying it out of the PDF keeps the order you wrote it in.
- Real headings. One
h1for your name, oneh2per section,h3for each job. Screen readers and parsers can follow that structure. - The page is set in the file.
@pagefixes paper size and margin; the print rule removes the grey screen background and the sheet padding, so the margin is not applied twice. - Jobs do not split.
break-inside: avoidkeeps a job together andbreak-after: avoidstops a heading being left alone at the bottom of a page. - One accent colour. Change
--accentat the top. Keep it dark enough to read on white.
What we tested
We ran this exact file through the free HTML CV print checker and it scores 100 out of 100. That checker reads the source only and does not render the page, so it does not replace a look at your own PDF. We did not test Firefox or Safari, and we cannot say how any employer's system will read your file.
Want finished designs?
The print guide explains the settings in more detail, and the live demo has two finished designs to open and print. CV Sheets is a $9 kit of six designs in A4 and Letter, each tested on both paper sizes, if you would rather not style your own.
