Excerpts from the finished binder

Sheet 1.1, the three access levels (every fill-in sheet has a box to tick): Shelf is out in the open, for the emergency one-pager and the doctors list. Drawer is shared with the people named on the register. Envelope is sealed and opened only in an emergency, or by the person named on the envelope.

Sheet 3.1, medicines, copied from the labels (filled example, fictional person)

Sheet 4.1, accounts map, where and never the numbers: First County Bank, current account, statements by post quarterly, alone, Ruth may be told after the bank is asked. State pension: monthly, paid into the current account, letters come to the hall table.

Sheet 1.2, an opener from the conversation guide: "I am not asking to take anything over. I would like to be able to help if you ever cannot do it yourself, the way you want it done."

All names are invented. The sheets record where things are and who may open them; they never ask for passwords, PINs or account numbers.

Made for

Who it's for

Adults with an ageing parent who is still independentSiblings who share the load and keep losing track of who knows whatNew caregivers who need one place for appointments, bills and papersAnyone who wants their own family not left guessing

The parent stays in control

Each sheet has a Shelf, Drawer or Envelope tick-box, so the parent decides what is visible, shared or sealed. That answers the common worry of seeming to take over.

Where things are, never the secrets

Sheets ask for locations and names: which bank, where the policy paper is, who holds a key. No passwords, PINs or full account numbers, which keeps the binder safe to leave in a drawer.

Starts before a crisis, grows into care

The same binder holds the emergency one-pager now and the hospital go-sheet, appointment log and sibling coordination pages when care begins.

Print it your way

US Letter and A4, black and white, a clear left punch margin, plus an editable copy and a large-print one-pager for easy reading.

Questions

Good to know

Is this medical or legal advice?

No. It is an organiser. Medicine details are copied exactly from labels and pharmacy printouts, allergies are recorded as a doctor told you, and nothing in it makes a will or power of attorney valid. Ask a qualified professional for those.

Does it ask for passwords or account numbers?

No. The sheets record where credentials are kept and who may be told, and say not to write passwords, PINs or full account numbers on paper.

How do I start the conversation with my parent?

Sheet 1.2 has four openers that keep the parent in charge, things that help and things to avoid. The free guide on this site covers the same ground, with three sample sheets to print.

What do I get after paying?

A download page with 45-page PDFs for US Letter and A4, filled examples, a large-print one-pager, editable HTML copies and a README. The same pack is also sold on Gumroad at S$16 (about US$12) if you prefer to buy there: https://digitalplains.gumroad.com/l/stand-in-binder-d20261018a3

Can I just use the free emergency one-pager?

Yes. If an emergency sheet is all you need, the free one-pager maker and the free sample PDF are enough. The binder adds the other sheets, the examples, the editable copies and the sibling pages.

What if it doesn't work for me?

If it doesn't work as described or you can't access it, email us within 14 days and we'll fix it or refund you. See the refund policy for details.
